The one thing I’ve learned so far is you have to be willing to try; new things, new mediums, combinations, you have to rip things apart, and put them back together, all to help take you where you’re headed.

Art is what you make of it. For me, it’s an attempt to tell a story, or send energy out into the world. The more you try the more you feel, right? So with this in mind, I try out a lot of stuff. I’m influenced by multi-faceted artists, from Tyler, the creator, James Turrell, and Harry styles, to The Weekend, Virgil Abloh, Yuko Shimizu, and Andy Warhol. My work encompasses pop art, fashion, music, photography, architecture; all learnings but with core work principles, because you still have to put in the work to coax the idea out.
I reference a lot because I don’t believe I am one to bring up something from thin air. What I see is what I know, but not limited to what I can produce, or my imagination.
Having a theatrical approach to art is important; how sound works with the piece, how a piece reacts to light, how each person reacts to the art or how an image can translate energy. All in all, the main goal is to broadcast an identity, and where I am today.

My name is Oluwatooki, a Nigerian artist based in the UAE, trying new things and playing with different mediums of expression, and this is my work.
